предпочтение
Задание или обоснование выбора между возможными решениями (альтернативами); утверждение, что одна альтернатива (проект, приобретение какого-то блага, предположение о будущем исходе некоторого действия и т.п.) предпочитается другой, равносильно утверждению, что первая альтернатива обладает большей полезностью для лица (коллектива, общества), осуществляющего выбор. Поэтому шкала предпочтений (если они определенным образом упорядочены) является одним из возможных описаний функции полезности. В анализе спроса и потребления П. — основание выбора между наборами потребительских благ (например, товаров). Запись x < y, где x и y — наборы товаров (точки пространства товаров), означает строгое П.: покупатель безусловно предпочитает набор x набору y. Запись же x ? y означает слабое П., т.е. покупатель либо предпочитает набор x набору y, либо не делает между ними различий. В реальной экономике выявить истинные П. нелегко, даже когда мы знаем точно, что именно купили потребители, т.е. на чем остановили они свой выбор. Истинные П. искажаются уровнем доходов и цен (мы хотели бы купить данную вещь, но она слишком дорога), а особенно несбалансированностью рынка товаров: мы хотели бы купить вещь, но ее в продаже нет, приходится чем-то ее заменить. (См. Аксиомы выявленного предпочтения.) Изучение потребительских П. в обществе необходимо для лучшего удовлетворения потребностей его членов. В принципе, возможно сознательное воздействие общества на формирование некоторых потребностей и, следовательно, — предпочтений.
