40 -to remember o to remind?-
Nota d'usoNon si deve confondere l'uso dei verbi to remember e to remind che si traducono entrambi con ricordare. To remind è usato nel senso di “far venire in mente”, “richiamare alla memoria”: Mi ricordi mia sorella, you remind me of my sister; Ricordami di spegnere la tv, remind me to switch off the TV. To remember significa “ricordarsi di qualcosa” ed è generalmente usato in senso riflessivo: Non riesco a ricordarmi il suo nome, I can't remember his name. Di conseguenza, he remembered me significa si ricordava di me, mentre he reminded me (that we were late, to wash the dishes) significa mi ha ricordato (che eravamo in ritardo, di lavare i piatti).
