nSee:Cultural note: STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS Si chiama State of the Union address il discorso pronunciato annualmente dal Presidente degli Stati Uniti e indirizzato al Congresso (l'organo legislativo americano). Il Presidente, coadiuvato da consiglieri specializzati nei diversi settori, prepara e presenta un rapporto sull'andamento degli affari pubblici: il messaggio offre una panoramica finanziaria, economica e sociale della situazione a livello nazionale e propone le misure legislative necessarie soprattutto in campo economico e militare. Al discorso viene data ampia copertura mediatica, per cui è in realtà indirizzato, oltre che al Congresso, anche al popolo americano; è previsto dalla costituzione e viene pronunciato a gennaio. -
