1921-2002Nacido en Minneapolis, Minnesota, George Roy Hill curso estudios musicales en la Universidad de Yale, en la que se graduo en 1943. Fue piloto en la Se gunda Guerra Mundial y en la Guerra de Corea. En el mundo del audiovisual entra por la puerta de la television, me dio para el que dirige diversos episodios de series desde 1956. En 1962 debuta en el cine, pero obtiene su primer verdadero triunfo en 1969 con el que sera su unico western, Dos hombres y un destino, uno de los hitos de la decada. En los oidos de todos los espectadores resuenan todavia los ecos del exito de la tramposa The Sting (El golpe, 1973), el mas clamoroso que jamas alcanzo George Roy Hill, aunque el de Dos hombres y un destino casi se le puede comparar. Sin duda, en ambos casos influyo la singular quimica desprendida por la pareja protagonista, formada por Paul New man y Robert Red ford.
