13 -into o in to?-
Nota d'usoInto e in to vengono spesso confusi. In to deve essere scritto con due parole quando in è un avverbio che fa parte del verbo frasale, mentre to è una preposizione che introduce un complemento, una subordinata o un'infinitiva: I looked in to (non into) see him while I was passing, gli diedi un'occhiata mentre passavo; She turned him in to (non into) the authorities, lo consegnò alle autorità. Si scrive into (tutto attaccato) quando è una preposizione, che indica in genere moto a luogo o una trasformazione: Come into my room, vieni nella mia stanza; The witch turned him into a frog, la strega lo trasformò in una rana. -
14 -to denounce o to report?-
Nota d'usoI verbi to denounce e to report si possono spesso tradurre entrambi con “denunciare”. Tuttavia, to report è appropriato in contesti legali: I'd like to report a theft, vorrei denunciare un furto; mentre to denounce significa piuttosto “dichiarare pubblicamente”: The citizens denounced the failure by the authorities to take action, i cittadini hanno denunciato l'incapacità delle autorità di affrontare la situazione. -
15 -to signal, to report o to notify?-
English-Italian dictionary > -to signal, to report o to notify?-
