Debe evitarse el uso de la formamedia en lugar de la correcta medias: * in media res. [RAE: Diccionario panhispánico de dudas. Madrid: Santillana, 2005, p. 365]In medias res es una técnica literaria donde la narración comienza en mitad de la historia, en vez de en el comienzo de la misma ( ab ovo o ab initio). La expresión fue acuñada por el poeta latino Quinto Horacio Flaco (65 a.C.-8 d.C.) en su Ars poetica (verso 148) en la que alaba el estilo de Homero en la Ilíada: lleva al lector sin rodeos al centro mismo de los hechos. En la técnica de in medias res, los protagonistas, lugares y la trama son descritos a través de flashbacks. Ejemplos de esta técnica son La Eneida de Virgilio, La Odisea y La Ilíada de Homero, la Divina comedia de Dante, que empieza con la frase En mitad del camino de la vida.
