A remarkable similarity shows Lat. minurriō, - īre `twitter' (Suet.); if not directly loaned from Greek, literarily influenced. -- Resembling reduplicated formations are μιμιχμός τοῦ ἵππου φωνή and μιμάξασα χρεμετίσασα, φωνήσασα H. (cf. Grošelj Živa Ant. 4, 173); from other languages e.g. Skt. mímāti `bleat, roar, cry', OCS mъmati ( mьm-) `stammer'. WP. 2, 243, Pok. 711, W.-Hofmann s. mintriō, Mayrhofer s. mímāti2. -- Cf. μύρομαι. - I have no further evidence for a variation κ\/μ as proposed by Fur. 388.
