Сражение Гражданской войны [ Civil War], произошло 5 августа 1864. Суда северян под командованием контр-адмирала Д. Фэррагата [ Farragut, David Glasgow] вошли в бухту Мобил [ Mobile Bay] через узкий заминированный пролив. После того, как одно из них подорвалось на мине южан, Фэррагат со словами: "Плевать на мины! Полный вперед!" [ Damn the torpedos! Full speed ahead!] повел флагман "Хартфорд" [The Hartford] в атаку. Броненосец [ ironclad] южан "Теннесси" [The Tennessee] в одиночку вступил в бой с эскадрой северян, но серьезно пострадал от обстрела, и его команда сдалась. 23 августа северяне взяли Форт-Морган [Fort Morgan] и полностью окружили г.
