תָּרִיסm. (= תאריס, v. אָרַס a. denom.; cmp. תָּגָא a. תָּאגָא) 1) shield (of twisted osiers). Sabb.VI, 4. Kel. XXIV, 1 שלשה תריסין הן ת׳ כפוףוכ׳ there are three sorts of shields (with regard to levitical cleanness): the bent shield (which may be used as an improvised seat) is unclean as midras (v. מִדְרָס), and that with which they play in the camp, v. דִּיצָה.
