Инвестиционные трасты, которые, как правило, не являются трастами (trusts) в обычном понимании этого слова, но частными или публичными компаниями с ограниченной ответственностью, отличаются от паевых трастов, в которых инвесторы покупают паи, не будучи акционерами. Некоторые инвестиционные компании ориентируются на высокий рост капитала (капитальные акции (capital shares)), другие-на высокий доход (прибыльные; доходные акции (income shares)).
