    מוּמָרm. (part. Hof. of מוּר) 1) exchanged, v. מוּר. 2) converted, apostate, esp. muwmar, an open opponent of Jewish law, non-conformist. (Our w. interchanges with מְשוּמָּד in eds. a. mss. Ḥull.4b אפי׳ ישראל מ׳ even a non-observant Israelite; Tosef. ib. I, 1 משומד ed. Zuck. (Var. מ׳). Ḥull. l. c. מ׳ לערלות opposed to circumcision; מ׳ לאותו דבר opposed to this one practice (of slaughtering according to ritual); ib. הוי מ׳ לכל התורה כולה is considered as a rebel against the entire Law; ib. מ׳ לע״א accused of idolatry.
