Функциональные направления деятельности предназначены не для изменения или определения структуры организации, а для предоставления средства для сравнения аналогичных функций различных ОКОИ, настоящих и будущих.

IOC has developed a generic listing of functional areas, which are based on the Games "functions" rather than on an OCOG's organizational structure. The functional areas are not meant to replace or prescribe an organization structure, but to provide a means for comparing similar functions across multiple OCOGs, present and past.
