12 -hypertension o high blood pressure?-
English-Italian dictionary > -hypertension o high blood pressure?-

13 -manifestation o demonstration?-
English-Italian dictionary > -manifestation o demonstration?-

14 -parlare stretto-
È necessario ricorrere ad espressioni come “thick” o “heavy accent”: Parla australiano stretto, she's got a thick (o heavy) Australian accent (non she speaks strict Australian). -
15 -taste o flavour?-
16 -tissue, fabric o material?-
17 -to bring o to take?-
Nota d'usoIn molti contesti i verbi to bring e to take possono essere tradotti con “portare”. Tuttavia, possiedono delle sfumature di significato diverse: to take è usato generalmente quando chi parla porta un oggetto o una persona altrove: She took her daughter to the doctor, portò la figlia dal dottore. To bring è usato quando viene portato verso chi parla, ed è spesso seguito dai pronomi me e us: Bring me a chair, please, portami una sedia, per favore. To bring viene usato anche con il significato di “portare con sé”: I'll bring some CDs to the party, porterò dei CD alla festa; e in frasi con doppio oggetto: I'll bring you a coffee, then, ti porto un caffè, allora. -
18 -to speak o to be about?-
Nota d'usoQuando si vuole dire che un libro (o film, articolo ecc.) parla di un determinato argomento non si usa il verbo to speak, ma la locuzione to be about: The book is about the Spanish civil war, il libro parla della guerra civile spagnola. -
