TRADUCCIÓN.—Cuando la hierba se mete en los pajares, se pisa bien por personas que se meten dentro del pajar para tal menester, con el fin de que el pajar haga más hierba, porque sino se pisase, la misma hierba haría montón dentro del pajar y con poca hierba se llenaría el pajar quedando relativamente en sin hierba. Esto por una parte, con la otra, la hierba que no está bien pisada, bien calcada no se hará en toda su extensión buena. Si el verano viene bueno de paciones y el otoño también, no se comienza a gastar la hierba hasta a mediados del otoño aproximadamente, a no ser que alguna vaca alumbre a su ternero, pues entonces hay que cebarla con hierba, o que cualquier otro animal se ponga enfermo, por causa de la diarrea, así que cuando se empieza a arrancar la hierba en el pajar, está tan enebrada en si misma que es menester de arrancarla de esmantelarla por encima de la pila que en el pajar forme, si alguien hace este esmantelamiento, no es un buen vaquero ni tampoco sabe muy bien lo que esta haciendo, ya que lo que hay que hacer es arrancar la hierba, primero porque rinde, suple mas la hierba, lo segundo que es lo más principal, es que al arrancar la hierba, todo el polvo y las granas ligeras que tiene que son perjudiciales para la salud de las vacas, al ser sacudidas en los arrancamientos se desprenden y caen encima del tillado del pajar. La hierba se puede arrancar de los pajares de dos maneras, o con las manos, que es muy cansado y peligroso, por causa de los múltiples espinos que tiene, o con el gancho de arrancar la hierba, que esta hecho de un espinero, que tiene la mejor madera para industriar, un buen gancho.
