Количество денег в обращении на определенный период или на определенную дату. В зависимости от задач в Д.м. включаются разные агрегаты - показатели ее объема и структуры. Наиболее распространен агрегат М2, охватывающий наличные деньги в обращении, вклады населения и организаций в банках, средства страховых учреждений. В структуре Д.м. выделяют активную часть, в которой основное место занимают денежные средства, реально обслуживающие хозяйственный оборот, и пассивную часть, включающую денежные накопления, остатки на счетах, которые потенциально могут служить расчетными средствами.

Совокупность денег в стране. Количество денег в обращении на определенный период или на определенную дату. Ее структура по разному определяется в разных странах, да и в пределах одной страны, к сожалению, в этом отношении сохраняется разнобой, что иной раз приводит к недоразумениям. В России наиболее распространена следующая классификация: Денежный агрегат М0 — наличные деньги в обращении (монеты и банкноты). Денежный агрегат М1 — М0 плюс депозиты населения до востребования и средства предприятий на текущих банковских счетах. Денежный агрегат М2 — М1 плюс срочные вклады предприятий, организаций, граждан и местных бюджетов; средства Госстраха.. Денежный агрегат М3 — М2 плюс различные «квазиденьги» — облигации, госзаймы, казначейские обязательства и другие ценные бумаги. В статистических и аналитических публикациях основной характеристикой состояния Д.м. (например, при сравнении темпов ее роста и темпов инфляции) обычно служит агрегат М2. В настоящее время примерно 3/4 всей денежной массы в России составляют банковские депозиты и 1/4 — наличные деньги. В структуре Д.м. выделяют активную часть, в которой основное место занимают денежные средства, реально обслуживающие хозяйственный оборот, и пассивную часть, включающую денежные накопления, остатки на счетах, которые потенциально могут служить расчетными средствами. В США основной составляющий денежную массу агрегат М1 (его называют также массой денег в узком смысле) состоит из наличных денег вне банков, чековых депозитов в банках и дорожных чеков. М2 включает также срочные депозиты, евродолларовые депозиты, средства взаимных фондов (так называются инвестиционные фонды). М3 — М2 плюс долговременные депозиты. Особый агрегат L объединяет все предыдущие и иные ликвидные активы. В Великобритании действует аналогичная классификация с некоторыми отличиями, связанными с разделением денег частного и государственного секторов, а также резидентов и нерезидентов страны.
