A kärṣt-, B kärst- `cut off, destroy'. Traces of the same verb (with diff. sound-development) show Gr. ἀ-κερσε-κόμης, Κόρσης nickname of a smooth-shaved man (Chrysipp.), κορσός κορμός H., κορσοῦν κείρειν H. with κορσᾶς m.
