•USAGE:(1.) Значения многозначного глагола to get разграничиваются разными конструкциями: to get smth - доставать, получать; to get somewhere - добираться куда-либо; to have got smth - иметь что-либо/обладать чем-либо; to get + Adj - становиться: to get cold (dark) - становится холодно (темно)/холодать (темнеть); to get + Past Participle - стать, превратиться: to get arrested - быть арестованным, to get damaged - испортиться; to get smth done - иметь что-либо сделанным (другим человеком): to get one's hair cut - постричься. (2.) Глагол to get 1. В этих случаях русский глагол "доставать" передается глаголом to obtain: Maps can be obtained at the Tourist office. (3.) For get 4.; See become, v (4.) For get 4.; See confuse, v -
62 GET
Get a bang (kick) out of...
Get across —
Get (have) a crush on (someone) —
Get a handle on (something) — понять, что же надо делать в какой-то (надо полагать, сложной) ситуации.
(*)
Get hot — возбудиться (сексуально).
Get away with (murder) —
Hey, let's get down! Но закончим с get down.
Get it off = come off = get (one's) nuts (rocks) off — это уже будет чисто "испытать оргазм".
Оба выражения используются и фигурально, в смысле - получить удовольствие, поймать кураж, кайф - to have fun (a good time).
Get off!
Get out of my face! —
Get a life!
Get lost! —
Get the pink slip — см. PINK SLIP
