1 זוח II
זוּחַII or זָחַח (b. h. זחח; cmp. זוּעַ) to be unsteady, move.Part. זָח faint-hearted, distracted. Keth.69b; M. Kat. 28b; Yalk. Am. 545, v. מַר II. Hif. הֵזִיחַ or הֵזֵיחַ to remove, to cause to move, to force one to yield to others opinions. Ḥull.7a אין מְזִיחִין אותו (with ref. to יִזַּח, Ex. 28:28) we do not make him give up his opinion; v. זָהַהּ.Keth.10b מזבח מֵזִיחַ (or מֵזִיח) the altar removes (evil decrees). -

Mets.80b חֲבָטוֹ לאלתר (Ar. חבסו, v. חָבַס) the load pressed him down immediately (before he could find out that it was too heavy for him). Snh.19b חֲבָטָן בקרקע pressed them into the ground. Succ.IV, 6 (45a) חוֹבְטִין אותןע״ג קרקע בצידי המזבח Ms. M. (v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 10) they laid them down closely upon one another on the ground by the altar (opp. to זוקפין, Ib. IV, 4). Keth.39a צער שחֲבָטָהּע״גוכ׳ ‘the pain (Mish. ib. 3:4) refers to his pressing her down on the hard ground. 2) to force, to knock open, esp. to knock upon olives to make them burst, before putting them under the press, or upon ears to thresh the grain out. קָרֵב(b. h.) 1) to join, come near, be near; to be offered as קָרְבָּן. Zeb.VIII, 2 יִקְרַב לשם מי שהוא let it be offered in behalf of him to whom it may belong. עשי, עָשָׂה(b. h.; cmp. עסי) 1) to do, work, prepare (corresp. in variety of meanings to עֲבַד). Shebi. VIII, 6 אין עוֹשִׂין זתיםוכ׳ (in the Sabbatical year) you must not prepare (press, cmp. עֲסֵי) olives in the press Tosef. ib. VI, 29 אין עושין אותן גרוגרות you must not prepare them as dried figs. Ib. 8 אין עושין את הייןוכ׳ you must not make ăluntith wine (v. אֲלוּנְטִית II). Sabb.118a, a. e. עֲשֵׂה שבתך חולוכ׳ make thy Sabbath a week-day (as to expense), and be independent of men. Ib. 56a שביקש לַעֲשׂוֹת ולא ע׳ he wanted to do (evil), but did not do it.
