в современных микропроцессорах - устройство упреждающей (опережающей) выборки команд, осуществляемой в свободные такты шины. Это повышает производительность процессора, сокращая время его ожидания поступления следующей команды. Упреждающая выборка делается на основании предположений о порядке исполнения программы (см. branch prediction), однако если предсказание не сбылось, то выбранные команды не используются.
