Further, with long vowel, IE. * lāp- or * lōp-, some Baltic words for `torch, flame': Lith. lópė, Latv. lāpa, OPruss. lopis; with short a-vowel, but deviating in auslaut, Celt., OIr. lassaim `flame', Welsh llachar `glow', which can go back on * laps-. - Further combinations in Bq and WP. 2, 383; also Fraenkel Wb. s. lópė.
