Этот уникальный и образцовый труд во многом повлиял на возрождение интереса к тому периоду французского кинематографа. В 1981 г. Шира повторил свой подвиг, выпустив «Каталог французских полнометражных фильмов 1940―1950 гг.», на этот раз опубликованный «Муниципальной синематекой Люксембурга». В 1984 г. Шира при помощи Роже Икара опубликовал «Каталог французских полнометражных фильмов 1919―1929 гг.», выпущенный в свет «Тулузской синематекой» (наконец-то его работами заинтересовались во Франции). В том же году Шира совместно с Жан-Клодом Ромером выпустил в свет «Каталог короткометражных художественных фильмов 1929―1939 гг.» (Catalogue des films de fiction de première partie 1929―1939), опубликованный «Государственным центром кинематографии» (CNC) и служащий дополнением к первому «Каталогу» 1929―1939 гг. Этот последний труд, настоящее пиршество науки и эрудиции, многое говорит о том периоде. В нем перечислены 938 короткометражек – от заснятых песен в несколько минут до 40―45-мин детективных историй. Среди них огромное количество фарсов, водевилей, шуток и т. д., свидетельствующих о том, что зритель тех лет чувствовал неутолимую тягу к комедиям, весьма широко, качественно и разнообразно представленным и в полнометражном формате. В те годы ни один кинопоказ (в программу которого, как правило, входили 2 полнометражные и несколько короткометражных картин) невозможно было представить без хотя бы одной комедии. Многие шуточные картины, включенные в каталог, построены на недоразумениях (см. Шлепок, La claque, Робер Пеги, 1933; Мой марсельский кузен, Mon cousin de Marseille, Жермен Фрид, 1936, и т. д.). Требуется работник тоже использует эту посылку, но следует особо отметить его остроумие, блеск и точность социологических наблюдений. Отметим, что большинство комических короткометражек тех лет были сняты по оригинальным сюжетам и что такое благородное дело, как экранизация классики (3 Мольера, 2 Лабиша, 7 Куртелинов, 4 Фейдо на все десятилетие), не всегда приводит к лучшим результатам. Чаще всего бывает как раз наоборот.Главным достижением этих коротких лент стало то, что они подарили авторам и актерам большую свободу. В доказательство приведем фильм под названием Резервист поневоле, Le réserviste improvisé, снятый Андре Югоном (наивысшее достижение в его режиссерской карьере) по сценарию Жоржа Фаго. Это уморительный армейский мини-водевиль, квинтэссенция жанра, который здесь еще больше, чем в полнометражных картинах, свободен от предрассудков и комплексов. Иногда, как в случае с Хорошим местом, La place est bonne, Роже Лион, 1930, где режиссерский стиль, так сказать, отсутствует вовсе, актер (в данном случае – бессмертный Арман Бернар) с радостью забывает о технических ограничениях и с головой бросается в безудержную и вдохновенную импровизацию (камера при этом не двигается с места). Эти крохотные фильмы трудно отыскать, и они редко демонстрируются публике.
