Name given to a group of avant-garde artists working in Paris and elsewhere, mainly in France, from the 1870s to the 1920s. Though frequently called the "French Impressionists", the Impressionists were actually an international group, and as well as the French painters Monet, Manet, Cézanne, Renoir, Pissaro and Degas, major artists from the group included the Dutch painter Van Gogh, the English painter Sisley and the American Mary Cassat, among others. The name "Impressionists" was taken from the title of a painting by Claude Monet displayed at an exhibition of works by avant-garde artists in Paris in 1874. A group of representatives from the UEFA member associations, which may carry out certain of the duties delegated by the UEFA Executive Committee and shall advise it on a subject.► In 2007, the Committees of UEFA are: National Associations Committee, Finance Committee, Referees Committee, National Team Competitions Committee, Club Competitions Committee, Youth and Amateur Football Committee, Women's Football Committee, Futsal and Beach Soccer Committee, HatTrick Committee, Development and Technical Assistance Committee, Club Licensing Committee, Stadium and Security Committee, Medical Committee, Players' Status, Transfer and Agents and Match Agents Committee, Legal Committee, Marketing Advisory Committee, Media Committee, Fair Play and Social Responsibility Committee, Football Committee. Based on proposals submitted by the UEFA President, the UEFA Executive Committee elects the chairman, one or more vice-chairmen and the members of each committee for a two-year term. Every UEFA member association has at least two representatives on the overall number of UEFA committees.

A botanical term referring to the terminal community said to be achieved when a sere (a sequential development of a plant community or group of plant communities on the same site over a period of time) achieves dynamic equilibrium with its environment and in particular with its prevailing climate. Each of the world's major vegetation climaxes is equivalent to a biome. Many botanists believe that climate is the master factor in a plant environment and that even if several types of plant succession occur in an area they will all tend to converge towards a climax form of vegetation.
