• Negroes (American) негры ( американские). В США составляют 10% населения. Первыми неграми, появившимися на территории нынешних США, были рабы, привезённые в Виргинию в 1619, и вплоть до XX в. большинство американских негров проживало в южных хлопководческих штатах. Сейчас многие из них переехали на Север в крупные города, такие, как Нью-Йорк и Чикаго. После II мировой войны были предприняты попытки устранить расовое неравенство, всё ещё существовавшее в американском обществе (см. civil rights; integration; King, Martin Luther). Борьба с расовой дискриминацией привела к массовым выступлениям и беспорядкам в крупных городах; возникли экстремистски настроенные группы типа «Чёрных мусульман» [*Black Muslims] и «Чёрных пантер» [*Black Panthers] (см.
