En la primera de estas actividades, alrededor de treinta peliculas avalan su gris trayectoria de dedicacion al cine de genero barato, particularmente al western. El ultimo de los que dirigio es un western erotico, que firmo con el seudonimo de Revilo Ekard, anagrama de su nombre real, obtenido leyendo al reves tanto el nombre como el apellido. 1889-1969Enormemente fecundo, este especialista del western (rodo un centenar, entre mudos y sonoros) no desdeno acercarse a otros generos. El resultado es un centenar y medio sobrado de peliculas, en las que no faltan detalles de buen hacer, aunque el ex ceso sumerge el todo en la atonia. Se hizo director con Thomas Ince y logro algun western mudo de buen nivel, como The Narrow Trail (1917), con Wil liam S. Hart, para quien siempre fue su director favorito, co mo protagonista.
