7 Curtain Cloth
The loom mechanism is entirely different from that used for leno brocade work in which the ordinary doup is used and all the warp is drawn through the mail eyes of the jacquard. For Madras muslins the jacquard is different as doup harness and slackener harness must be provided. Qualities vary from 36 to 50 ends and 27 to 36 picks per inch, of 60's to 80's warp and 40's to 80's weft. The coloured warp yarns are 50's, 2/70's or 2/100's. The figuring weft ranges from 8's to 16's, 2/16's to 2/32's and rayon weft from 500 denier to 150 denier. The cloth is an open gauze ground cloth and extra weft figures are woven on this base. The extra weft appears only where figure is required and the floating yarn between one figure and the next is cut off after weaving. -
8 Himalaya Cloth
A plain weave cotton fabric woven on an ordinary plain loom using specially spun weft. A check appearance is given to the cloth by coarse picks of 8 to 12 threads being woven at irregular intervals. The base weft will be 28's and after about 20 yards of 28's have been spun an extra roving is added for 8 to 12 yards, making the weft much thicker, equivalent to about 6's. At places the heavier weft may begin or end in the middle of a pick. Usually 34-in. wide 90 yards, 72 ends and 36 picks per inch, 20's T., 28's/6's W. The weft yam may be termed an elongated slub. -
9 Tissue Figured Cloth
Very fine muslins used for curtains, etc., which have large jacquard designs produced by extra weft. The ground cloth is plain open weave muslin made from fine warp and weft. Thick figuring weft interweaves with the ground warp only where required for pattern, and otherwise floats loosely on the back and is afterwards cropped off.Dictionary of the English textile terms > Tissue Figured Cloth

13 Bags (Tubular Cloths)
Pockets, pillow cases (see Pillow Cloth). Are all types of double cloths, usually woven with tappets, similar to Smalley's, or on a dobby loom. A special loom is now made for these fabrics. If one bag only is woven in the width, 4 healds are required; if several in the width, then 2 extra or 4 extra shafts would be needed to weave the plain between the bags. The warp requires special controlling, as greater tension is necessary when the bottom of the bag is being woven. A standard bag cloth is woven 96 X 96, 14's/14's, all American yams. This "gives 48 ends and picks in each fold. The bottom of the bag being woven by a special motion. Widths are 14-in. to about 24-in. A pillow case cloth is made 108-ends, 4 in a dent, 120 picks, 24's warp, 16's weft. Ends and picks are total of both folds.Dictionary of the English textile terms > Bags (Tubular Cloths)

The extra weft appears only where figure is required and the floating yarn between one figure and the next is cut off after weaving. -
15 Binding
When two separate fabrics are woven together in the loom and are to be joined, the process is termed binding. Any thread which is used to bind or hold these two cloths together is termed a binding thread. This can be done by lifting a warp thread from the back cloth, over a face cloth pick, and lifting the face cloth threads on each side. Another method is to use an extra warp which weaves under the back cloth picks and over the face cloth picks, and is thus so covered, that it is not seen. -
