22 sake
( JAPAN)1. Japanese word for alcohol, but used outside of Japan to refer to nihonshu, a brewed rice drink with an alcohol content a little stronger than the average wine. The word is pronounced /sah-kay/.2. salmon.♦ in Japanese, sake or o-sake refers to alcoholic drinks in general. The Japanese term for the “rice wine” we know is Nihonshu meaning "Japanese sake". Although we call sake rice wine the brewing method is more like beer than wine.♦ Fermented rice wine with approximately the same alchohol content as table wine♦ all Japanese alcohol is called sake, but you and I know it as rice wine. but its actually nothing like wine but more like a beer process, a story for another time -

25 corrido
(Sp. model spelled same [koríðo], perfective participle of correr 'to run' [see above])A ballad, usually one that narrates a local legend, historical event, or love story. Blevins notes that such ballads are a significant part of the oral tradition of the border region. Santamaría glosses corrido as a popular ballad that relates some story or adventure. It may be recited or sung and is usually accompanied by music and even dance. Cobos points out these ballads are patterned after eighteenth century Spanish romances. It is quite likely that a few vaqueros, charros, and cowpokes were immortalized in these border ballads. A number of cowboy classics such as "Streets of Laredo" or "(Out in the West Texas Town of) El Paso" are somewhat similar in form and content to the corrido. -

35 в огороде бузина, а в Киеве дядька
погов., шутл., ирон., часто неодобр.cf. it's neither here nor there; it's clotted nonsense; it's a cock and bull story; it is strictly horse stuff; one foot here, one foot thereУ меня всегда плохое содержание в сочинениях. Я не умею их писать и пересказываю то, что прочла в книге, а когда я попробовала придумать по-своему, то получилась вообще какая-то глупость, и русачка сказала, что моё сочинение написано по принципу 'в огороде бузина, а в Киеве дядька'. (В. Киселёв, Девочка и птицелёт) — The content of my compositions is always poor. I don't know how to write a composition properly and end up by retelling something I've read in a book. When I try to make up something of my own it's usually an awful jumble. The teacher says these are 'one foot here, one foot there' compositions.
