Спецификация WHDI 1.0 предусматривает возможность подачи аудиовидеопотока с качеством 1080p в несжатом виде на расстояние до 30 м, в т. ч. сквозь стены, видеосигнал высокой чёткости может транслироваться от источника сразу на несколько приёмников, находящихся в различных помещениях. Задержка при этом не превышает 1 мс, пропускная способность канала связи — до 3 Гб/с. Первые продукты с поддержкой стандарта Wireless HD ожидаются на рынке во II пол. 2010. В перспективе технология должна найти применение в телевизорах, плеерах Blu-ray и игровых приставках.
