Nota d'usoAnche se in italiano i sostantivi “fantasia” e “immaginazione” sono spesso intercambiabili, non accade lo stesso per i corrispettivi inglesi fantasy e imagination. Infatti, la parola fantasy viene usata per lo più in riferimento ad un universo fantastico, che non ha attinenza con il mondo reale. Pertanto, quando si parla, ad esempio, della capacità di una persona di escogitare nuove idee o pensare a diverse possibilità, si dovrà utilizzare il sostantivo imagination: He has no imagination, non ha fantasia (non He has no fantasy).
