Arrandiar ou arrendar, ou arrandar, es trabajar la tierra por última vez amontonándola en el tallo de las plantas. Esta delicada operación debe de hacerse con las plantas de las patatas antes de que éstas florezcan, pues ya cuando las plantas tienen flor es muy peligroso arrandarlas, porque ya tienen sus raíces muy extendidas y al arrandiarlas se pueden cortar parte de ellas, privando por esto a la planta de producir más abundante fruto. Con el maíz sucede lo mismo.
