1928-1991Resulta extrano encontrar aqui a uno de los mas conspicuos representantes de “Free Cinema” britanico, uno de los movimientos de renovacion del cine que surgieron a mediados de los anos 50. Richard son, no obstante, habia empezado en el teatro, en la New English Stage Company. Mas tarde, con John Osborne fundo la Woodfall Films. Con Tom Jones (1963), obtuvo el Oscar a la Mejor Pelicula y a la Mejor Direccion.
