81 Boudoir Carpet
A reversible, plain weave, union carpet made of worsted and cotton yarns. They are very heavy and firmly constructed. The warp is arranged 1-end 2/30's cotton (as binder), 1-end of coarse cotton (as wadding), 1-end 2/30's cotton binder, set 18 to 20-ends per inch. The wefts are 1 pick 2/5's crossbred worsted, 1 pick 8 skeins, bi-fibred yam and 1 pick 2/5's worsted, 24 picks per inch. -
82 Reformer
BULL-HIDE, or REFORMERA very heavy cotton fabric woven on fustian looms. It has a warp face with a twill weave. Each warp-end floats over six picks. The cloth is pile finished. Much used for cheap hats (see Reformer) ———————— See Bullhide. A heavy cotton fustian fabric, woven on 8 shafts and 8 picks as seen in the illustration. The cloth is often beaver finished, and a good trade is done with a lamb-skin finish. There is a great number of picks per inch. -
83 Etamines
The common type is a gauze or network cloth, loosely woven from coarse yarns, cotton and wool, cotton and linen, all linen, silk and wool, and many other mixtures. Used as an outer-garment over a shirt of some other colour or material. The term is the French name for bunting, or sifting cloth, and was originally applied to cloths used for sifting purposes. The real fabric is a voile type, but more wiry, and although many imitations are obtainable the real fabric is made from worsted yarns all through with end and end right and reverse twist warp yarns. A good quality is made 54-in. wide, 88 ends and 38 picks per inch, 30's T., 24's W., worsted yarns. Qualities vary greatly. -
84 Toile D'or
TOILE d'OR, TOILE d'ARGENTFrench for cloth of gold or cloth of silver, made in plain or twill weave with fine silk warp and gold or silver weft, the metal threads being often arranged in twos through each shed. The warp was usually dyed yellow. The fabric was made in France and Italy until the end of the 16th century. -

87 Diapers
The original diaper was of linen, and based on the 5-end sateen weave, woven on the damask principle. The cloth has a smooth, even surface. M shows one form of diaper design, but the design N based on the 8-end sateen, shows the correct method of producing these effects. Cotton diapers are now made and used for towels. Two or three-fold warp is usual, such as 2/16's, 3/24's, with 8's weft. In the cheaper qualities a single yarn 16's is used. The term is also applied to pattern and indicates rectangular shapes either uniform or varied in size and shape and repeated all over the fabric. Diapers like huckabacks are very ancient. They are largely used for toilet purposes. The following are fairly standard: - 3 shaft, 1,200 set X 13 shots, 40's/45's linen. 4 shaft, 1,400 set X 14 shots, 50's/50's linen. 5 shaft, 1,500 set X 15 shots, 40's/45's linen -

94 Prussienne
A silk dress fabric, also used for upholstery, believed to have originated about 1750 in Berlin, and much in use in France. It had a rib ground, and the two-fold silk warp in two colours was set end and end. When the shed was formed all ends of one colour only were lifted, forming alternate coloured cross ribs in the tapestry cloth. The dress fabric was woven in brocade designs using the two-coloured warps for effect. The colours were two tones of the same colour. Often the weft was of a different colour. -
