На них падает поток света с лампы подсветки, однако между лампой и матрицей стоит вращающийся круг с секторными светофильтрами, который окрашивает падающий свет в различные цвета. Колебание микрозеркал согласовано с изменением цвета светового потока, из чего в итоге и получается движущееся изображение. Картинка отличается высокими контрастностью и яркостью.
