Напряжение после отключения ожидаемого симметричного тока идеальным коммутационным аппаратом.
Примечание. Определение подразумевает, что коммутационный аппарат или плавкий предохранитель, для которого оценивается ожидаемое восстанавливающее напряжение, заменен идеальным коммутационным аппаратом, т. е. с мгновенным переходом от нулевого к бесконечному полному сопротивлению в самый момент уменьшения тока до нуля, т. е. при «естественном» нуле. Для цепей, в которых ток может проходить по нескольким различным путям, например для многофазной цепи, это определение подразумевает также, что ток отключается идеальным коммутационным аппаратом только в рассматриваемом полюсе.

Remarks on the interruption of direct current
Direct current presents different problems than alternating current with aregard to the phenomena associated to the interruption of high value currents since the arc extinction results to be particularly difficult.
As Figure 7 shows, with alternating current there is natural passage of current through zero at each half cycle, which corresponds to the quenching of the arc during the circuit opening. With direct current there is not such natural passage and therefore, to guarantee arc extinction, the current must decrease to null (forcing the current passage through zero).

Triangular current limitingPower supplies with a U/I characteristic perform current limiting to typically 1.1 to 1.2 times the rated current at constant output voltage. This current is still available in case of an overload or a short circuit. In this case, the power supply either immediately cuts the output voltage to zero (rectangular current limiting) or performs slow lowering of the output voltage, what, however, can possibly lead to a further increase of the output current (triangular current limiting).
Since the current does not sag in case of an overload, this method enables reliable starting of high loads.

The operating principle of residual current devices consists in the detection of an earth fault current by means of a toroidal transformer which encloses all the live conductors, included the neutral, if distributed.
In absence of an earth fault the vectorial sum of the currents IΔ is equal to zero; in case of an earth fault, if the value of IΔ exceeds the value of the trip threshold, called IΔ n, the circuit at the secondary of the toroid sends a command signal to a dedicated opening device causing the circuit-breaker tripping.

Принцип действия устройств дифференциального тока заключается в обнаружении тока замыкания на землю с помощью тороидального трансформатора, который охватывает все токоведущие, в том числе и нейтральный проводник, если он используется для распределения электроэнергии.
При отсутствии замыкания на землю векторная сумма токов IΔ равна нулю. Если при возникновении замыкания на землю значение IΔ превысит уставку срабатывания, обозначаемую как IΔn, то во вторичной обмотке тороидального трансформатора будет наведена ЭДС, достаточная для включения специального устройства, вызывающего срабатывание автоматического выключателя
