Процесс выполнения задачи с использованием кэш-памяти.
Кэширование является способом хранения страниц Web, просмотренных пользователем. Дело в том, что пользователь, читая страницы Web, часто возвращается к тем из них, которые он уже видел. Для того чтобы снова не посылать их через сеть, просмотренные страницы хранятся в кэш-памяти персонального компьютера пользователя. Как только пользователь потребует показа таких страниц, они выдаются из кэш-памяти.
С помощью кэширования пользователь на своем персональном компьютере создает библиотеки страниц Web, получаемых из всемирной сети. При этом необходимо иметь в виду, что содержимое страниц Web время от времени изменяется и их нужно заменять. Кэшируются (запоминаются) не только те страницы, которые пользователь запрашивает из всемирной сети. Кэшируются также страницы, передаваемые активным каналом.
