Название на всеобщем (не перевод) Tol Brandir, недосягаемого острова с отвесными берегами, представляющего из себя огромную скалу, возвышающуюся над водопадом Rauros. Хотя это название на всеобщем, оно появилось задолго до времени, описываемого в повествовании, и содержит старое слово "tind", "пик", которое, если бы сохранилось, рифмовалось бы со словом "find". Сейчас оно существует в форме "tine", "зубец", "d" при этом утеряно. Древнеисландским эквивалентом этого слова было "tindr", древневерхненемецким – "zint".
