асинхронная последовательная коммуникационная шина, использующая в качестве среды передачи витую пару проводов и ориентированная прежде всего на объединение различных исполнительных устройств и датчиков. Протокол был предложен фирмой Robert Bosch GmbH в конце 1980-х годов для автомобильной промышленности, т. е. для надёжной работы систем реального времени в условиях с повышенными уровнями электрических помех (бортовая сеть автомашины), затем он был стандартизован ISO (ISO 11898) и Ассоциацией SAE. Протокол CAN реализует первый и второй уровень эталонной модели OSI. Режим передачи - последовательный, широковещательный, пакетный. При скорости передачи 1 Мбит/с длина шины может достигать 40 метров. При меньших скоростях длину можно увеличить до километра. В настоящее время сети на основе протокола CAN распространены также в промышленной автоматизации, технологиях "умного дома" и других областях. На рынке CAN присутствует в двух версиях: версия А задаёт 11-битовую идентификацию сообщений (т. е. в системе может быть 2048 сообщений), версия В - 29-битовую (536 миллионов сообщений). Отметим, что версия В, часто именуемая full-CAN, всё больше вытесняет версию А, которую называют также basic-CAN2) Campus Area Network - кампусная сетькомпьютерная сеть, объединяющая локальные сети близко расположенных зданий (в университетском, корпоративном или научном городке, кампусе в диаметре до километра). Эта аббревиатура иногда расшифровывается как corporate area network - корпоративная сеть3) cancel - символ отменыуправляющий символ, отменяющий предыдущий принятый символ или группу символов (Control-X, 24 в коде ASCII)см. тж. control character
