НЗЧ, характеризующееся глухотой, пигментным ретинитом и рядом др. симптомов; наследуется по аутосомно-рецессивному типу; известны 2 формы С.У. с наличием (генетический фактор обозначается USH1) или отсутствием (USH2) поражений вестибулярного аппарата; локус USH2 расположен на участке q32 хромосомы 1, в то время как для локуса USH1 сцепление с хромосомой 1 было исключено.
