Ϝhεδιεστας = ἰδιώτης (cf. κηδεσ-τής, El. τελεσ-τα) shows for ἴδιος an orig.. *Ϝhεδιος, from the reflexive Ϝhε = ἕ (IE *su̯e) (Schwyzer 226; on ε \> ι 256). Diff., also possible, Schulze KZ 40, 417 n. 6 = Kl. Schr. 74 n. 2, Brugmann IF 16, 491ff., Fraenkel Ling.
