Cho. 424, lyr.).Origin: PG [a word of Pre-Greek origin]Etymology: Expressive word, perhaps from the interjection ἰή (cf. v. Wilamowitz on Eur. Her. V. 109; after the subst. ἰά); not very probable. The formation futher only in κοάλεμος, which may have influenced the later meaning of ἰάλεμος. Zacher IF 18 Anz. 86 assumes for ἰάλεμος Thraco-Phrygian origin. κοάλεμος is prob.
