ṡṛiṅgāram. (prob. connected with ṡṛiṅga as vṛindāra with vṛinda) love (as « the horned» orᅠ « the strong one»),
sexual passion orᅠ desire orᅠ enjoyment Kāv. Rājat. etc.;
(in rhet.) the erotic sentiment (one of the 8 orᅠ 10 Rasas q.v.;
it has Vishṇu for its tutelary deity andᅠ black for its colour;
accord. toᅠ most authorities it is of two kinds,
viz. sambhoga, « mutual enjoyment», andᅠ vipralambha, « deception, disappointment», to which by some is added as third a-yoga, « separation») Bhar. Daṡar. Sāh. etc.. ;
