עִינּוּי, עִנּ׳I m. (עָנָה I) chorus of lamentation, dirge. M. Kat. III, 9 (ref. to מְעַנּוֹת ib.) איזהו ע׳וכ׳ when is a lamentation called ʿinnuy? When all begin at once, contrad. to קינה, when one speaks and the chorus responds.

עִינּוּי, עִנּ׳II m. (עָנָה II) 1) delay, postponement. Ab. V, 8 ע׳ הדין delay in executing judgment, contrad. to עוות; Ab. dR. N. ch. XXXVIII; Sabb.33a. 2) affliction, oppression; suffering. Mekh.
