אִימָּאI distaff, v. אִימָּה II.

אִימָּאII, אִמָּא, אִימָּה f. ch. (= h. אֵם) 1) mother, frequ. my mother; v. אַבָּא. Targ. Gen. 3:20; a. fr.Ber.18b אֵימא לה לא׳ tell my mother; a. fr.א׳ זקינה grandmother. Meg.27b. 2) trnsf. the flesh of a stone fruit. Sabb.143a חזיין אגב אִימָּן in may be handled on account of the flesh (with which they were surrounded when Sabbath cause).Pl. אִימָּהָתָא, אִמְהָתָא. אִימָּאIII pr. n. f. (or title; cmp. אַבָּא). Imma. Y.Git. I, 43c; ShebiVI, 36c top א׳ שלום Imma (Mother) Shalom.

אֲמָאII, אֲמִי, fut. יֵימָא, imper. אֵימָא (√אם to join, v. אמר) to say, speak, think. Targ. Y. Gen. 33:10.Freq. in Talmud. אפילו תימא even if you will say, i. e. it may come right even if you assume that Succ.13b; a. fr.מי לֵימָא, (מי)נֵימָא or לימא must it be said, does it mean to say?
