    כָּפַת(cmp. preced.) to twist, tie. Tam.IV, 1 לא היו כופְתִיןוכ׳ they did not twist (tie together the four feet of) the lamb, opp. העקיד, v. עָקַר. Snh.70b (ref. to Prov. 31:1) שכְּפָתתּוֹ אמווכ׳ Ms. M. (ed. שכפאתו) his mother tied him to a post; Num. R. s. 10 כפפתו (corr. acc.). Par. III, 9 כְּפָתוּהָוכ׳ they tied her (the red heifer) with a rope Gen. R. s. 56 כל מה … עוקד … כופתוכ׳ (some ed. כובש) as much as Abraham hound Isaac …, the Lord tied (held in check) the genii of the gentiles; Yalk. Gen. 101; Yalk. Nah. 561. Gen.
