    Attention: billet se dit note en anglais britannique, et bill en anglais américain.
    Noter l’ordre des mots dans les adjectifs composés anglais, et l’utilisation du trait d’union. Noter aussi que pound, dollar etc. qui font partie de l’adjectif composé, ne prennent pas la marque du pluriel:
    un billet de 10 livres
    = a ten-pound note (GB)
    un billet de 50 dollars
    = a fifty-dollar bill (US)
    un billet de 100 €
    = a hundred-euro note (GB) ou a hundred-euro bill (US)
    une pièce de 20 pennies

    Noter que pièce se traduit par coin pour l’unité monétaire et au-delà, et par piece pour toute fraction de l’unité monétaire.

    dix livres, ça fait beaucoup d’argent
    = ten pounds is a lot of money
    prends tes 20 €, ils sont sur la table
    = take your 20 euros, it’s on the table

    Le système lsd
    Le système non-décimal utilisé en Grande-Bretagne jusqu’en 1971 reposait sur la livre, le shilling et le penny. Le penny (pluriel pence ) était abrégé en d., à cause du latin denarius. Il y avait douze pence dans un shilling et vingt shillings dans une livre.
