Snh.76b ההוא גברא דמִצַמְצְמָהּוכ׳ (not … מא; Ms. M. דצימצם Hebr. form) a man that confined his neighbors animal so as to expose it to sunstroke; Yalk. Num. 787 דצמצמיה, read: דצַמְצְמָהּ. Yeb.46a ארפו ליה וצַמְצְמוּ ליה (ed. וצימצמו, Hebr. form) they loosened the halter around his neck, and pressed it close to his neck; צ׳ ליה כי היכיוכ׳ they pressed it, in order that he (when immersing) may not anticipate them and say, I take this immersion as a freedman.Transf. to get a person into a dilemma. X, 8 (175b) הרי החוֹנֵק אתוכ׳ if one seizes a debtor by the throat (threatening violence). Ib. 176a בחָנוּק in the case of one being threatened (and another pledging himself for him). Sabb.57a אין אשה חוֹנֶקֶתוכ׳ a woman will not choke herself (will not tie a band around her neck so closely that no water could get under it when bathing); ib. b אשה ח׳וכ׳ a woman does tie a chain closely in order to appear fleshy. קָדַרI (קָדַד) (cmp. כָּדַר, גָּדַר, גָּדַר) to cut around, perforate, cut out. Sabb.116a; Y. ib. XVI, 15c bot. קוֹרֵר (Ar. קוֹדֵד), v. אַזְכָּרָה. Snh.103b מנשה ק׳וכ׳ (Ar. קדר) Manasseh cut the divine names out (of the Scriptures). Kidd.22b קוֹדֵד ויורדוכ׳ Ar. (ed. דוקד והולך) one must bore (through the slaves ear) until the door is reached.
