  • 42 think

    [θɪŋk]
    v

    Why, do you think, she went there?

    I think so.

    I don't think so.

    First think, than speak. —

    - think about smb, smth
    - think of doing smth
    - think that...
    - think of it!
    - think a little!
    USAGE:
    (1.) Русскому "как ты думаешь" соответствует английское what do you think? Where, do you think, he weat? Why, do you think, she called him? Where, do you think, he hid it? (2.) Глагол to think не употребляется для введения косвенного вопроса, в этих случаях употребляется глагол to wonder: He wondered how she would get home. I have been thinking about what you told me. Don't think about it. To think of smth означает: (а.) иметь какое-либо мнение/суждение о чем-либо: Just think of it! What do you think of it all? Что ты обо всем этом думаешь?; (б) задумывать что-либо/выдумывать: think of a number (person) задумывать число (человека); What will he think of next? To think of doing smth We are thinking of going to the seaside. To think that означает считать, полагать. (4.) I don't think he will come; I don't think you are right. (5.) See so, adv; USAGE (1.). (6.) See believe, v; USAGE (3.).

  • 60 think

    v 1. думать, обдумывать: to think about (of) smb/smth — думать о ком-либо, о чем-либо; 2. намереваться что-либо сделать: to think of doing smth; 3. полагать, думать, что…: to think that… (1). соответствует английское what do you think?

д.) — When (where, what for, why, how, etc) do you think…?

    He wondered how she would get home —

    (3). Различные конструкции и предлоги с глаголом to think реализуют разные его значения — to think about smb, smth — думать, вспоминать о чем-либо, о ком-либо, задуматься над чем-либо:

    I have been thinking about what you told me — Я думаю (обдумываю то) о том, что вы мне сказали.

    Don't think about it — Не думай об этом.

    То think of smth означает: 1) иметь какое-либо мнение, суждение о чем-либо:

    Just think of it!Подумать только!

    What do you think of it all? — Что ты обо всем этом думаешь?;

    2) задумывать что-либо, выдумывать:

    think of a number (person) — задумывать число (человека).

    What will he think of next? — Что он еще придумает?;

    to think of doing smth — намереваться что-либо сделать:

    We are thinking of going to the seaside — Мы собираемся (намерены) поехать на море;

    to think thatозначает считать, полагать. (4). See so, adv (1). (5). See believe, v (3).
