(1914-2004) Бурстин, Дэниел ДжозефИсторик, юрист. В 1944-69 - профессор Чикагского университета [ Chicago, University of]. Автор более чем 20 трудов по истории США. В 1975-87 - директор Библиотеки Конгресса [ Librarian of Congress], с 1987 - почетный директор. Наиболее известна его трилогия "Американцы: колониальный опыт" ["The Americans: The Colonial Experience"] (1959), "Американцы: национальный опыт" ["The Americans: The National Experience"] (1965), "Американцы: демократический опыт" ["The Americans: The Democratic Experience"] (1973), переведенная на многие языки, в том числе на русский.
