– I’m about to leave. – I’m off/I’ll be going/I’ll be back in two hours.10. – The problem with this experiment is that it requires a lot of time. – The only consolation was that he would be away for long/was leaving for only a few days. – We started the party/evening by suggesting/with the suggestion that everyone dance.Он начал с того, что лично познакомился со всеми.- Не began by introducing himself to everyone/by getting personally acquainted with everyone. - I didn't see him brush his teeth/I never saw him brush his teeth. - I want you to understand me correctly/to get what I mean.г) to + infinitive вместо довольно неуклюжей конструкции in order to или so as toЯ вернулся с тем, чтобы предупредить вас. - I came back to warn you. - I didn't come to argue with you. - Speak so that everyone understands/gets the point.11. - I like watching him perform/I like to watch him perform/I like watching him performing. - Не was afraid of catching cold/He was afraid he might/could catch cold.12. «He + инфинитив + бы» требует don't или see that X doesn't do Y.He простудиться бы! - Take care/I'll take care not to/See that you don't catch cold. - See you don't/take care not to/be sure you don't/I mustn't/I must take care not to forget his address.13. -What did Beltov do during these ten years? Everything or almost everything. What did he achieve? Nothing, or almost nothing. уверить — convince решать — try to solve решить — solve. учиться — study научиться — learn отыскивать — look for отыскать — find сдавать экзамен - to take an exam сдать экзамен - to pass an exam поступать в университет - to apply to a university поступить в университет - be admitted/get into a universityб) При переводе глаголов несовершенного вида нельзя не подчеркнуть, что речь идет о попытках говорящего или кого-то другого что-либо сделать. - The troops tried for a whole month to take the fortress. - For a long time I tried to get used to him, and finally did. He оправдывайся! - Don't try to justify yourselfl/Don't try to make excuses! Я «понимаю» is the result of «я понял», and note that English "I understand" translates them both. The formal pair «разобраться/разбираться» are exactly the same; the verb in «я разобрался в этом» is an achievement with the change-of-state meaning characteristic of perfectives, while the verb in «я разбираюсь в этом» signals the state resulting from the achievement. They may both be translated as / understand, but the former means / have figured out (come to understand), while the latter means I understand (as a result of having figured out). These verbs belong to a very large group of perfectives whose change of state is inceptive, whose imperfectives denote the new, resulting state: «понял, понимаю, поверил, верю, понравиться, нравиться».14. -Visitors are requested/asked to leave/Visitors must leave/check their coats in the coatroom. - I/he/we/they often hear about this. - I/we/they felt/could feel that he was pleased. - A vacuum is defined as space/By a vacuum we mean space/The definition of a vacuum is space/A vacuum is understood to be space free from/not containing/devoid of matter. - In this case complex movement is considered as/considered to be/we see complex movement as/we define complex movement as the result of two movements. - His/my ears were ringing, his/my throat was dry. - I felt an irresistible urge to sleep/I just couldn't stay awake/I felt horribly/terribly/awfully sleepy. 92 résumé
HRa document that provides a summary of personal career history, skills, and experience. A résumé is usually prepared to aid in a job application. A job advertisement may ask either for a résumé or instead may require a candidate to complete an application form.Every résumé should include the following: the jobseeker’s name and contact details; a clear and concise description of his or her career objective; some kind of outline of work experience; and a list of education and qualifications. It is important to customize a résumé to the type of job or career being applied for, and to make sure it has impact: a hiring manager receives an average of over 120 résumés for every job opening.There are four basic types of résumé: the chronological, the functional, the targeted, and the capabilities résumé. A chronological résumé is useful for people who stay in the same field and do not make major career changes. They should start with and focus on the most recent positions held. A functional résumé is the preferred choice for those seeking their first professional job, or those making a major career change. It is based around 3–5 paragraphs, each emphasizing and illustrating a particular skill or accomplishment. A targeted résumé is useful for jobseekers who are very clear about their job direction and need to make an impressive case for a specific job. Like a functional résumé, it should be based around several capabilities and accomplishments that are relevant to the target job, focusing on action and results. A capabilities résumé is used for people applying for a specific job within their current organization. It should focus on 5–8 skills and accomplishments achieved with the company.The format of a résumé should also be considered—whether it is to be printed out, incorporated into an e-mail, posted on a Web site, or burned onto a CD-ROM. Different layout and design elements, such as the choice of fonts or inclusion of multimedia, are suitable for each medium, and should be thought through carefully.U.K. term CV -

arc-resistant switchgear
A type of switchgear design which is designed to withstand the effects of an internal arcing fault, without causing harm to personnel who are located in defined areas. It is not intended to withstand these internal arcing fault without possibly causing physical damage to the structure and/or components, but often the physical damage is less with an arc-resistant design.
There are three classes of protection:
Type A - eliminates the emission of gases and particles from the front of the switchgear during an internal arcing fault,
Type B - eliminates the emission of gases and particles from the front and sides of the switchgear during an internal arcing fault,
Type C - eliminates the emission of gases and particles from the front and sides of the switchgear, from between compartments within the same cell, and between adjacent cells during an internal arcing fault.
Arc-resistant switchgear has traditionally been metal-clad, but the basic concept could also be applied to other types of switchgear as well.
arc-proof switchgear
An incorrect term. Please refer to arc-resistant switchgear

If the electric arc occurs inside LV switchgear it generates internal overpressures and results in local overheatings which may cause high mechanical and thermal stresses in the equipment.
Besides, the involved materials can generate hot decomposition products, gases or fumes, which, due to the overpressure, are almost always ejected to the outside of the enclosure thus jeopardizing the operator safety.
The European Directive 2006/95/EC states the fundamental safety requirements for low voltage electric materials (from 50 V to 1000 V in alternating current, from 75 V to 1500 V in continuos current) to be put on the market within the European Community.
Among the essential safety requirements defined by this Directive particular importance is given to the need of taking technical measures to prevent “temperature rises, electric arcs or radiations which may result in hazards” from occurring.
This aspect has always been highly considered for apparatus, but it has been wrongly neglected for electrical switchgear and only in the last 10-15 years it has been catching on both at Italian as well as at international level.
Safety for the operator and for the installation in case of arcing inside LV switchgear can be obtained through three different design philosophies:
1. assemblies mechanically capable of withstanding the electric arc (passive protection)
2. assemblies equipped with devices limiting the effects of internal arcing (active protection)
3. assemblies equipped with current limiting circuitbreakers.
These three solutions (also combined together) have found a remakable development in the industrial field and have been successfully applied by the main manufacturers of LV switchgear and controlgear assemblies.
As it can be seen hereafter by examining the first two solutions, an “active” protection against arc faults is intrinsecally more complex than a “passive” one.
This because of the presence of additional electromechanical/ electronic devices5 which limit the arcing effects and which, by their nature, may be subject to faults or not-tripping.

EN-RU For definition, the electric current called “direct” has a unidirectional trend constant in time.
As a matter of fact, by analyzing the motion of the charges at a point crossed by a direct current, it results that the quantity of charge (Q) flowing through that point (or better, through that cross section) in each instant is always the same.
Direct current, which was once the main means of distributing electric power, is still widespread today in the electrical plants supplying particular industrial applications.
The advantages in terms of settings, offered by the employ of d.c. motors and by supply through a single line, make direct current supply a good solution for railway and underground systems, trams, lifts and other transport means.
In addition, direct current is used in conversion plants (installations where different types of energy are converted into electrical direct energy, e.g. photovoltaic plants) and, above all, in those emergency applications where an auxiliary energy source is required to supply essential services, such as protection systems, emergency lighting, wards and factories, alarm systems, computer centers, etc..
Accumulators - for example – constitute the most reliable energy source for these services, both directly in direct current as well as by means of uninterruptible power supply units (UPS), when loads are supplied in alternating current.
Direct current can be generated:
- by using batteries or accumulators where the current is generated directly through chemical processes;
- by the rectification of alternating current through rectifiers (static conversion);
- by the conversion of mechanical work into electrical energy using dynamos (production through rotating machines).
- от аккумуляторов, в которых электрическая энергия образуется за счет происходящих внутри аккумулятора химических реакций;
- выпрямлением переменного тока с помощью выпрямителей (статических преобразователей);
In the low voltage field, direct current is used for different applications, which, in the following pages, have been divided into four macrofamilies including:
- conversion into other forms of electrical energy (photovoltaic plants, above all where accumulator batteries are used);
- electric traction (tram-lines, underground railways, etc.);
- supply of emergency or auxiliary services;
- particular industrial installations (electrolytic processes, etc.).
- преобразование различных видов энергии в электрическую (фотоэлектрические установки с аккумуляторными батареями);
- электропитание аварийных или вспомогательных служб;
