Welsh hedd, peace, is from se$$ud.IIa fairy, sìthich (do.), Irish sídh, a fairy hill, sígh, a fairy, sígheóg (do.), Old Irish síde, dei terreni, whose dwelling is called síd; in fact, síde, the fairy powers, is the pl.
