Исключение финансовых посредников, таких, как брокеры и банки, из сделок между заемщиками и кредиторами или покупателями и продавцами на финансовых рынках. Примером освобождения от посредников является “секъюритизация” долга (securitiwtion of debt). Освобождение от посредников стало следствием развития финансовых технологий и дерегулирования (deregulation) (см. также: globalization (глобализация)). Освобождение от посредников позволяет обеим сторонам финансовой сделки уменьшить свои расходы, отказавшись от платежей комиссий и других сборов. Освобождение от посредников часто имеет место в тех случаях, когда государства пытаются установить прямой контроль над банковской системой, например вводя коэффициенты резервных активов или устанавливая лимиты кредитования. В ответ на такие действия рынок вырабатывает новые инструменты и институты, которые не подпадают под прямой государственный контроль. Если государственный контроль ослабнет, финансовые средства могут вернуться в нормальную банковскую систему, т.е. произойдет возвращение к посредникам (reintermediation).
